The Supercharger DSC (Displacement Supercharger) system is one of the key progression goals in Forza Horizon 6’s upgrade journal. It focuses on installing and fully upgrading a positive-displacement supercharger on compatible vehicles. Unlike more flexible performance mods, this one is very specific: the game expects a full installation and max upgrade level for the system to count toward completion.

For players working through the journal challenges, the DSC system can feel confusing at first because not every car supports it, and some require engine swaps before the option even appears. Once you understand the structure, however, it becomes a straightforward upgrade path that mainly depends on picking the right base car.

Understanding the DSC System

The DSC system refers to a positive-displacement supercharger setup. In gameplay terms, this means a forced induction upgrade that delivers immediate boost at low RPM. The performance profile is very different from centrifugal superchargers or turbochargers.

A DSC setup prioritizes instant torque rather than top-end power. This makes it especially effective for heavy cars, drag builds, and street racing setups where acceleration out of corners or from a standing start matters more than sustained high-speed efficiency.

To complete the journal requirement, it is not enough to simply install the part. You must also fully upgrade it within the engine modification menu until it reaches its highest available tier.

Quick-Start Cars for the DSC Goal

Not all cars in Forza Horizon 6 can access the DSC upgrade path. The game restricts this system to certain engines or specific conversion configurations. If you want to complete the challenge without trial and error, these vehicles are the most reliable starting points.

2005 Honda NSX-R

The 2005 Honda NSX-R is one of the most straightforward options for this system. In its upgraded configuration, it naturally supports both CSC and DSC forced induction paths depending on how you modify the engine.

What makes this car useful is its flexibility. You can enter the upgrade tree without needing complex swaps, and the DSC option appears directly once performance conversions are unlocked. It is also lightweight, which means the added torque from the supercharger has a noticeable impact on acceleration.

Ford GT

The Ford GT is another strong candidate, but it requires a bit more setup. In most cases, you need to apply an engine swap first before the aspiration options unlock.

Once configured properly, the Ford GT becomes one of the most powerful DSC platforms in the game. The high-displacement engine pairs extremely well with a positive-displacement supercharger, producing strong mid-range torque and explosive acceleration in higher gear ratios.

2024 Ford Mustang GT

The 2024 Ford Mustang GT is one of the most accessible muscle car options for this upgrade path. It typically comes with native support for displacement-based supercharging options, making it one of the easiest vehicles to use for completing the journal objective.

Because of its naturally high torque baseline, the DSC system enhances its already strong low-end performance. This makes it ideal for street racing events and short sprint circuits where launch control and early acceleration matter most.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Once you have selected a compatible car, the installation process follows a consistent structure inside the festival garage. The key is to ensure each step is completed in the correct order so the journal objective registers properly.

Step 1: Select a Compatible Vehicle

Start by choosing a car that supports the DSC system. If the option does not appear in the aspiration menu, the vehicle likely requires an engine conversion first or does not qualify for this upgrade path.

Step 2: Check Engine Conversions First

Some cars, such as the Ford GT, require an engine swap before the supercharger becomes available. Navigate to:

Upgrades & Tuning → Conversions → Engine Swap

Select a high-displacement engine that supports forced induction upgrades. This step is crucial because without the correct engine base, the DSC option will not appear in later menus.

Step 3: Equip the DSC Supercharger

After the engine setup is complete, return to the main upgrade menu and enter the engine section. From there:

Go to Aspiration options
Select Positive-Displacement Supercharger
Install the DSC system

At this point, the part will be installed but not yet fully recognized as completed for the journal requirement.

Step 4: Fully Upgrade the Part

This is the step many players miss. Installing the supercharger alone is not enough. You must return to the engine upgrade screen and upgrade the DSC system to its highest available tier.

In most cases, this means applying race-level or maximum performance upgrades until the part cannot be improved further.

If the journal does not update immediately, re-enter the upgrade menu and confirm the final upgrade state.

DSC vs CSC: Key Differences

The game includes two major supercharger systems that often cause confusion: DSC and CSC. While they both fall under forced induction, their performance behavior is very different.

DSC (Positive-Displacement Supercharger)

This system delivers instant boost from low RPM. Power comes in immediately, making it ideal for short acceleration bursts and heavy vehicles. It is especially effective for muscle cars and drag builds where early torque determines race outcome.

CSC (Centrifugal Supercharger)

The CSC system builds boost progressively with engine speed. It behaves more like a turbocharger without lag, meaning its full potential appears at higher RPM ranges. It is better suited for lightweight or high-revving builds where sustained speed matters more than instant launch power.

Choosing the Right Build Strategy

When working toward the DSC journal goal, it is important to choose the right type of car rather than forcing the system onto an incompatible build. The most efficient approach is:

Use muscle cars or high-displacement engines
Avoid high-rev race engines that favor CSC behavior
Focus on torque-heavy setups rather than top-speed builds

The system is designed to reward players who experiment with torque-focused tuning rather than pure horsepower stacking.

The Supercharger DSC system in Forza Horizon 6 is less about complexity and more about understanding compatibility. Once you know which cars support positive-displacement superchargers and how engine swaps affect availability, the upgrade becomes a simple checklist.

The 2005 Honda NSX-R offers flexibility, the Ford GT delivers high-performance potential with proper setup, and the 2024 Ford Mustang GT provides the easiest entry point for most players.

Once fully upgraded, the DSC system transforms acceleration behavior in a noticeable way, making it one of the most satisfying performance modifications in the game’s upgrade system.
